Yes, the annual fee to be a member of Dr. Marcalus' practice is $1700/year. Payments can be made on an annual, semi-annual or quarterly basis.
Most insurance plans are compatible with your membership with the practice. Your annual membership fee is for non-medical services not covered by health insurance or Medicare. You will still need to maintain your health insurance to cover all other healthcare needs. These include office visits, laboratory testing, radiological services, hospital stays and visits to specialists.
No. The membership fee is for non-covered services and insurance does not reimburse for the annual fee.
Possibly. You will not be able to pay the annual membership fee directly from your heath savings account, but you may be able to receive reimbursement from your FSA/HSA. You will have to submit for reimbursement. You should check with your HSA administrator for assistance in this matter. We can provide a cost break-down receipt to assist you with reimbursement if needed.
Membership is based on a first-come first-served basis. When the practice reaches capacity and is closed to additional patients, those individuals will be given the option of being placed on a waiting list. The practice is structured this way to be able to continue to provide the same level of care to all of our existing patients.
No, Dr. Marcalus is a solo physician who works independently and is not employed by an other entitiy.
Dr. Marcalus will provide coverage to continue the same level of care to which you will be accustomed. He continues to maintain contact with the office even when he is away.
If out of town family members or guests visiting become sick, Dr. Marcalus will see them for their urgent matters only. All other medical issues they may have, will need to be addressed with their regular primary care physician.
This can be a very difficult and personal decision that only you can make. The membership fee may seem high to some, but is very comparable and competitive to similar practices in the area. The affordability is relative to what is important to each individual. This type of practice has evolved from the challenges and limitations placed on the traditional medical practice. Things you should consider are: How important is your health? Is it high on the list? Do you want to sit down with your doctor and discuss issues of vital importance in an unrushed setting? Does it bother you that it can take several weeks or even months to get in to see your doctor? Do you mind waiting in the waiting room for an hour or two waiting to be seen? If these are some of the issues that concern you, then this the kind of practice that is right for you.
No, typically since aesthetic services are considered cosmetic, most insurance companies will not pay fee for services.
